Field Trip to Purgatory Chasm

May 17, 2018

This week at MAIA, students got to explore a nearby natural geological wonder, Purgatory Chasm. Purgatory Chasm State Reservation is a state-owned geologic preserve and public recreation area in the town of Sutton, Massachusetts. The purpose of the trip was to get students outdoors and also relate to a classic they are reading in class, Odysseus.

Students traveled to the far side of the chasm along with teachers and SAs and took photos of the beautiful scenery. Following the field trips this week, students will share experiences with their class and write about the trip, comparing their adventure to that of Odysseus!
