Apple Picking at Berlin Orchards

This past Sunday, 25 MAIA students with SA Leah and SA Sam headed over to the lovely Berlin Orchards in Berlin, Massachusetts. From the farm shop, a hayride brought us into the orchards. The act of picking apples directly off the tree seems to encapsulate the American experience, especially in the autumn months. But fall doesn't officially start until September 22nd, and Mother Nature did not let us forget. However, a temperature of 90 degrees and brilliant sunshine did not stop students from filling up several twenty pound bags with galas, macs, and honey crisps. Thankfully, we were all able to cool off with some refreshing apple cider (and cider donuts too) once back at the farm shop! New MAIA student April Jin thought the experience was interesting because she had never picked apples before. Luvian Ye, another new MAIA student, really enjoyed the apple cider and donuts, but thought it was too hot! All in all, students seemed to have a really good time getting outside and experiencing New England, despite the heat!
