The University of Delaware (UD) is the largest university in Delaware. The school was founded in 1743, making it one of the oldest in the nation. UD has about 18,500 undergraduate and 4,500 graduate students with numerous research programs. US News and World Report names UD as #39 among Top Public Schools as well as #91 among all National Universities.

The university's programs in engineering, science, business, hospitality management, education, urban affairs and public policy, public administration, agriculture, history, chemical and bio-molecular engineering, chemistry, and biochemistry have high rankings.  It is one of only four schools in North America with a major in art conservation.
