STUDENT ADVISING

SA-banner-9-17-19.jpg
While teachers are in charge of in-class learning, it is the student advisor’s role to develop and run the out-of-classroom activities that are the cornerstone of MAIA’s unique approach to international education and cultural exchange. Student advisors are tasked with developing programs to introduce students to American culture and to the local community so that they can interact with – and learn from – their American peers.

In addition to taking charge of student activities, Student Advisors are also responsible for ensuring the well-being of MAIA’s students. Due to this, the Student Advisor position is residential and incorporates many responsibilities that are similar to what a Resident Assistant would take on in a traditional college environment.

In addition to residence life responsibilities, Student Advisors also serve as advisors to groups of 20-30 students on issues ranging from life at MAIA to university matriculation. Through regular meetings with their advisees and collaboration with MAIAs administration and university partners, Student Advisors ensure that all MAIA students are given the kind of support they need to make the most of their educational opportunities.

Students are always welcome to seek assistance in the Student Advisor Office. It is open on weekdays from 8am - 6pm, and on the weekend from 10am - 6pm.

When emailing us, please provide as much information as possible so we can identify who you are and your request.
