

Learning to Ski!
This weekend, students took advantage of the winter weather to learn one of the most emblematic winter sports in the US, skiing! At Wachusett Mountain about 45 minutes away from MAIA, students rented skis and took beginner classes. It was the first time skiing for almost all the students, and they did very well! Dumplings and Meeting Local Students!
Last week, students got to participate in an exchange with a local high school where they practiced their English, met new local friends, and most importantly, constructed, cooked, and ate dumplings! MAIA students taught local students about dumplings, a classic favorite food and one important to the students from China. Swimming at the YMCA!
SAs Caroline and Franco took students swimming at the Framingham YMCA. It was great to get some exercise and enjoy a warm pool on a such a cold, rainy day!Exercise is always helpful to rejuvinating the mind and body during times of stress or after a tough study session. Further, the YMCA is a culturally and historically significant part of life in US, and most of the students had never heard of it! Olympics Opening Ceremonies
This Friday, the worldwide celebration of sports and country pride, the Winter Olympics, began its 2018 competition with the opening ceremonies. Hosted by South Korea, the winter Olympics brings together over 100 countries competing in numerous snow and ice events over the following three weeks. Students came by the lounge, excited to see the Parade of Nations and cheer on different countries. They learned a lot about each other and about South Korean history through the show


Super Bowl 2018 and Temporary Tattoos!
To end the month of January, students got to participate in a fun and creative event -temporary tattoos! The event was super successful and brought together students and staff while they had fun putting on temporary tattoos and eating delicious ice cream with a variety of toppings on a Friday afternoon. Weekends Off-Campus: Celtics Game and Local Art Museum
This weekend, MAIA students got off campus and into many parts of the surrounding community! Friday had many students off in Boston at the Celtics game, Boston's professional basketball team. Many new MAIA students as well as a few returning students joined this classic American NBA basketball event! It was a really great match and students got to eat traditional stadium snacks like chicken tenders, pizza and hot dogs. Fan signs were on all the seats so they got to wave them
